Operation World

Have you heard of Operation World? It is a book, a website and a DVD designed to help you pray for the needs of our world. Since 1964 there have been 8 editions. Over 2 million copies of the book have been sold in 9 different languages. The 2010 version is now available.

You can use a daily email system to help you to remember to pray for your fellow Christians throughout the world.

At the OW website you can sign up to receive an email to remind you to pray for a particular country each day. The email will direct you to a page with up-to-date information about the needs of the country you are praying for.

On Day 11 of my prayer guide, I was directed to a page about Costa Rica, showing me where it is, and telling me that the population of 4 million people is growing at a rate of 1.4%, but that over the past 40 years the number of folk who are evangelical believers has increased from 2.5% to more than 15%.

The number of folk being added to God's kingdom is outstripping the birth rate, which I've discovered is common in many parts of the world. So when people tell you that due to advances in technology and science, God's church is dying, you have the evidence to show that this is not true.

Welcome to BEC's new blog

In just ten days, over 2 million people have viewed the seemingly impromptu lunch time performance of The Hallelujah Chorus from Handel's Messiah in an Ontario shopping mall food court.

The event was an advertisement for Alphabet Photography, whose manager explained that she wanted to advertise her company and give people “a little bit of Christmas.”

Many of the more than 2000 people who have commented on the video have expressed the desire that this Christmas might really be a time when people acknowledge that
the Lord God omnipotent reigneth
and that he is
King of kings, and Lord of lords

Now that’s the kind of Christmas that excites us BEC folk.
